Clear terms. Honest technology.

Version 2026-08-09 · Effective 9 August 2026

The short version

Scribble is a local-first writing app. Your notes remain on your device unless you deliberately connect an AI provider, cloud drive or GitHub. AI is optional, generated output can be wrong, and you remain in control of what you save or publish.

Terms of UseThe contract for using Scribble, ownership, availability and responsibilities. Privacy NoticeUK/EU GDPR information, data flows, lawful bases, retention and rights. AI Transparency NoticeProviders, limitations, EU AI Act disclosures and responsible publishing. Provider & Data Routing NoticeWhere optional AI, transcription, sync and publishing requests go. Device Storage NoticeCookies, IndexedDB, local storage, credentials and optional sync. Acceptable Use PolicySafety, unlawful content, abuse, impersonation and high-impact uses. Accessibility StatementCurrent support, known limits and how to report a barrier.

Electronic acceptance

Before first use, Scribble requires an affirmative clickwrap. The user separately agrees to the Terms and acknowledges the Privacy, AI and Provider/Data Routing notices. Scribble stores the document version and acceptance timestamp on that device. A material update changes the version and asks again.
